Brooks-TLC to Transfer Gowanda Primary Care Services to TCC

Collaboration with The Chautauqua Center ensures primary care services in Gowanda

DUNKIRK, N.Y., April 14, 2023 — Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc. (BTLC) announced today it will cease operation of primary care services at its Gowanda Urgent Care and Medical Center site, on Commercial St., June 30, in a collaboration with The Chautauqua Center (TCC) based in Dunkirk. The Chautauqua Center acquired Tri-County Family Medicine Associates in Gowanda as part of a recent merger and intends to expand operations.

“We have a strong working relationship with TCC,” said Ken Morris, president and CEO of Brooks-TLC Hospital System, Inc. “The collaborative efforts between Brooks-TLC and TCC allows for primary care services in the area to be provided by TCC in the future, ensuring the Gowanda community continued access to excellent healthcare close to home. One large primary care practice will be a more sustainable model to provide care for years to come.”

Brooks-TLC and TCC are working together to transition patient care to Tri-County Family Medicine with no interruption in services. Morris said that while BTLC is discontinuing primary care operations, Gowanda Urgent Care will remain open and continue to provide radiology/imaging, lab draw and expand physical therapy services.

As part of the collaboration, Morris said that Brooks-TLC has agreed to sell the Forestville location to The Chautauqua Center located at Bennett State Rd. “Selling the Forestville property is one of many steps to improve Brooks-TLC’s financial sustainability and also provides the opportunity to re-establish primary care in that community led by The Chautauqua Center.”

Current Gowanda Medical Center patients will receive communication containing details of the closure and outlining their options to continue as patients of TCC at Tri-County Family Medicine Associates on Center St., Gowanda, or the new TCC location opening in Forestville location at 10988 Bennett State Road on June 15, 2023. Patients may also opt to go elsewhere for healthcare.
