Pharmacy Third Payer Specialist

SUMMARY:
Provide quality and cost-effective primary care services to patient population, meeting their diverse health and social needs, under the supervision of a physician.

The Chautauqua Center (TCC) expects all employees to respond and participate to emergency situation per emergency policies and procedures.

Job Description/Duties

  • Receive and process all notices of prescription prior authorizations
  • Receive, document, and process phone calls from pharmacies for prescription prior authorizations
  • Receive, document and process patient phone calls inquiring about prior authorizations status and updates
  • Review notices of prior authorization and review patient prescription insurance formularies
  • Submit prior authorizations via website/portal/fax  (covermymeds) as per insurance preference
  • Track status of prior authorizations authorizations
  • Call prescription insurances as needed to obtain information or updates about authorizations
  • Notify provider, pharmacy, and patient when an authorization is submitted, approved, denied, or appealed as appropriate
  • Regularly review medication prior authorization expiration dates and renew when as needed
  • Advise medical providers on insurance coverage of medication or alternatives based on denials or appeals
  • Obtain processing information for discount cards or Patient Assistance Programs for non-covered or denied meds as needed
  • Maintain access to the NY Worker’s Comp Prior Authorization portal on behalf of provider
  • Communicate additional patient needs to pharmacist or medical provider

Maintains contact with other departments, medical staff, and nursing staff to determine needs, resolve problems

  • Adhere to all guidelines set forth in the pharmacy policies
  • Adheres to standard procedures at The Chautauqua Center
  • Attend meetings as directed
  • Availability to work variable hours including evening or Saturdays as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must be organized and able to work independently under direction of Pharmacy Director.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professional excellence, initiative, and a high standard of ethics.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) experience is preferred
  • Exceptional networking and negotiations skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to utilize sound judgment and independent thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships
  • Maintain project plans with high-level of accuracy in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and pharmacy software systems

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

SUMMARY:

Provide quality and cost-effective primary care services to patient population, meeting their diverse health and social needs, under the supervision of a physician.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Clinical
    1. Perform complete examination of patients children and infants
    2. Assess and manage acute and chronic conditions and participate in disease registry
    3. Screen all patients for health maintenance needs, including immunizations
    4. Educates patients and family members in health promotion, disease prevention and birth control methods as appropriate
    5. Assists in preparation and selection of patient education materials
    6. Initiates diagnostic studies referring abnormal results of concern to Medical Director of specialist
    7. Helps coordinate efficient flow of patients through the system of care
    8. Helps monitor status of referrals
    9. Obtain and review patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy
    10. Helps facilitate creation and tracking of patient data, specimens and records
    11. Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods
    12. Helps provide triage services and treatment services during disaster, per protocol
    13. Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
    14. Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
    15. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
    16. Maintains hospital privileges as designated by TCC
    17. Shares a call schedule with other providers
    18. Other duties as assigned by TCC
  1. Administrative
    1. Provide trainings on procedures, risk management and emergency care
    2. Participate in Quality Assurance, peer review and maintain confidentiality
    3. Participate in quality improvement, chart audits, and process improvement programs both system wide and cluster specific
    4. Participate in cluster specific meetings and administrative task as assigned by Medical Director or CEO
    5. Helps in recording of no-show visits and lab results/refills
    6. Participates or collaborate with marketing and other health education staff on education and patient recruitment health fairs
    7. Maintain current knowledge-base and appropriate licensure
    8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
    9. Other duties as assigned by TCC

QUALIFICATIONS:      

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Licensed to work in the state of New York
  • Board Certification
  • CPR certified
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a primary care clinic
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred
  • Sensitivity in the provision of services to people of various ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, education and lifestyle backgrounds
  • Computer literate in a Windows-based environment
  • A valid State Driver’s license with clean records and access to insured automobile

TCC Custodian

Job Duties:

The Chautauqua Center in Jamestown, NY is looking for a dynamic person to join their team to help with environmental services. This person will be joining a great team that cares about the work/life balance of their employees in an organization that is dedicated to helping their patients receive the highest quality care to meet all their healthcare needs regardless of ability to pay. We are looking for a responsible specialist who can keep our office complex clean.

The specialist is responsible for keeping a running inventory of all cleaning supplies and submitting purchasing requests when supplies get low. The successful candidate will be required to respond to repair calls for such activities as replacing a broken light, cleaning up a non-toxic spill and removing damaged office furniture.

Education/Skills/Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Reliable and able to work evenings and some weekends
  • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
