Administrative Assistant

The Chautauqua Center (TCC)) is a 501(c)3 is a group of community health centers serving community, homeless, and migrant populations. TCC is a dynamic, team-oriented non-profit association and provides medical, behavioral health and dental services as a federally qualified health centers (FQHC’s) including, other associated services in Chautauqua County.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Manage tasks as assigned by administrative employees daily, ensuring that deadlines are met and work is completed correctly

Implement and monitor programs as directed by management, and see the programs through to completion

Generate memos, emails and reports when appropriate

Maintain office supplies by checking inventory and order items

Respond to questions and requests for information

Answer incoming calls and assume other receptionist duties when needed

Proficiency in MS Office with expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel

Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency

Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment

Exceptional communication skills

Superior organization skills and dedication to completing projects in a timely manner

Supervising Dentist

Purpose: Serves as the working leader of the Dental Program. Diagnose and treat problems with a patient’s teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. Provide advice and instruction on taking care of teeth and gums and on diet choices that affect oral health.

Job Duties:

  • Complete dental budgets and monitor goals towards them.
  • Participates on the management team.
  • Maintains open lines of communication between departments.
  • Remove decay from teeth and fill cavities
  • Repair cracked or fractured teeth and remove teeth
  • Straight teeth to correct bite issues
  • Place sealants or whitening agents on teeth
  • Administer anesthetics to keep patients from feeling pain during procedures
  • Write prescriptions for antibiotics or other medications
  • Examine X-rays of teeth, gums, the jaw and nearby areas for problems
  • Make models and measurements for dental appliances, such as dentures, to fit patients
  • Teach patients about diet, flossing, use of fluoride, and other aspects of dental care
  • Utilize dental equipment efficiently and effectively
  • Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control, and postoperative instructions.
  • Documents dental care services by charting in patient records.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Deals with public and staff, both in person and over the telephone, in tactful and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Licensed to work in the state of New York as a Dentist
  • Graduate of an accredited college of Dental Medicine
  • CPR certified
  • Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in area of expertise
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a primary care clinic
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • A valid State Driver’s license with clean records and access to insured automobile
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Leadership and organizational skills essential
  • Bilingual especially in Spanish is preferred
  • Computer literate preferred
  • Self-motivated and flexible to daily patient schedule and/or clinic needs

Nursing Coordinator

Purpose: The supervisor will promote and restore patient’s health as they provide, delegate, evaluate and coordinate comprehensive professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and background.  The individual will oversee other personnel including RN’s, LPN’s and MA’s.  Reports directly to the Clinical Director.

Job Duties:

  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand care requirements
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families
  • Promotes patient’s independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Supervise nursing staff through hiring, corrective action and annual performance evaluations.
  • Improve nursing processes and protocols by frequently evaluating systems.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient record
  • Maintains continuity by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; participating in professional societies
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport
  • Assess, plan, direct and evaluate total nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures of TCC
  • Provides case management by being a patient advocate, resource and contact person for patients
  • Performs assessment data collection and documents subjective data (chief complaint and allergies) and objective data (vital signs/weight/etc.). Reviews basic health history information for patients; focusing on environmental, self-care and clinic discharge planning
  • Administers medications and intravenous solutions skillfully and correctly, and performs lab/diagnostic testing as ordered by provider and reports all critical lab values immediately
  • Anticipates and prepares examination room with equipment and supplies required for the visit. Assists provider with examination and procedures per request
  • Participates in Quality Improvement activities, including the QPIC Committee
  • Participates in training, orientation, competency assessment and education of new employees
  • Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately
  • Serves as a resource person to other staff
  • Acts in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of TCC and demonstrates compliance with all policy, procedures and federal/state regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Skills/Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for nursing. 
  • Current RN license and registration.
  • Experience in supervising within a healthcare setting.
  • Current CPR certification
  • Three years ambulatory or public health experience is preferred
  • Strong assessment skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Leadership and organizational skills essential
  • Bilingual especially in Spanish is preferred
  • Computer literate preferred
  • Knowledge of medical office practices, procedures and equipment
  • Knowledge of problem-oriented record keeping
  • Correct English usage, spelling and grammar
  • Skilled nursing care and follow-up with thorough documentation
  • Knowledge of community resources
